Spinach
is one of the best vegetables out there you can eat to get loads of potassium,
sodium, dietary fibre, vitamin A, Vitamin C and Calcium. This superfood is very
easy to grow at your own backyard using traditional growing methods or
hydroponics. First we'll see how to grow spinach using traditional soil based
Garden.
Spinach
grows most quickly in well drained soil rich in organic matter. You may use
composted manure with PH of 6.5 to 7, because this pH range is the best soil
condition for spinach plant to grow faster. If you want to check the pH value
of the soil, you can buy a pH metre which is very cheap at Ripeblueberry. Once you
purchased pH metre, all you have to do is get some soil and mix it with some
water and check the pH value of the water using the pH metre you bought. If the
pH value you checked is between 6.5 to 7, that soil is very suitable for you to
grow spinach. In some parts of Sri Lanka, farmers grow spinach using animal
manure which is also very good for growing spinach.
If
you grow spinach with hydroponics system you also have to check the pH value of
the water. You may check the PH value of the water as the same method I have
given above. So what we must use for the nutrient solution ? You can use RipeBlueberry nutrient solution especially made for vegetables. This nutrient solution will
provide everything which the spinach plant needs to grow quickly and without
any trouble. Once you have the plant and nutrient solution you also need mesh
pots to set up there hydroponic system. You can get all the information you
need to grow spinach with hydroponics from RipeBlueberry.
From
the above two methods, if you choose to grow spinach with hydroponics systems,
you may consider growing it indoors. This method is most suitable for people
who love growing plants especially for food, but don’t have enough garden
space. If you choose to grow indoors,
all you want is to get suitable grow lightings for your mini indoor farm.
People who live in apartments can try this system which will cost you very
small amount of money, but gives you very delicious fresh plant food without
any pesticides.
At
last, again I will tell you, decide which method you want to grow your spinach,
if it is in soil based pot, you have to use organic manure and keep the ph
level as I said above and water the plants frequently. However if you choose
the hydroponics method which I will recommend, all you have to do is to make
the basic setup as we discussed above and let the plants grow. Once your
nutrient solution is absorbed into the plant, you have to fill it again. Don’t
forget not to drown the all roots of the plan in nutrient solution. A small
part of the roots system needs to be in the air for getting oxygen.
